Elegant Edwardian Era Bird's Eye Maple Document Box Circa vendu with Engraving, 1890

Beautiful late 19th - early 20th century French style document box. Birds-eye maple veneer, with a inset hand colored engraving under glass and framed with detailed brass strips and corner brackets. The interior is plain, and there is an escutcheon and working lock - complete with key. The engraving does show some staining, and a bit of color loss just above the figures, but is stable and complete. The veneer and finish are in excellent condition, without any losses or damage. There is some extremely slight warp on the lids front left corner, but the lid closes and locks just fine. Excellent high-end piece.

Measures 3..25" high, 17.5" deep and 14" wide. The image is 10" x 13.5".
